What I learnt this week: It’s critical

‘I’m done looking for the critics cause they’re everywhere.’  Yes Pink, they are.  And sometimes (most times) I really wonder if they have any value in the world…

I recently watched Arrival and The Accountant– loved both films.  No, they weren’t perfect (whatever that is anyway). BUT, they had unique stories, interesting characters and clear themes.  Which is a lot more than I can say for most films out there today- Transformers 357 I’m talking to you.

However, both films were critically slated.  Now, I personally take critic reviews with a grain of salt. Because it appears a lot of them must be smoking crack.  And if I ever went by a critics word I’d miss some incredible stuff!!!

Also I’m sceptical about critics who are solely critics in life.  I only respect their opinion if they’re in the trenches of the artistic world, creating content.  Because if they’re sitting back and judging another person’s creation without knowing what it takes to produce it- quite frankly they can f*ck off.

The thing is art is subjective.  Just because someone doesn’t like something, doesn’t mean someone else won’t.  We should make up our own mind.

Something that I’ve made my mind up about is loving Coldplay. The world is full of people loving to hate them. But seeing them live again was one of the greatest nights of my life. So, I choose to ignore the haters.

And that is one of the best things you can do- ignore the peoples opinions that don’t serve you and enjoy what you want in life. Because there will always be critics. But as I said earlier- they can f*ck off.
